LUNAR ISLAND ORIGINSThe origins of Lunar Island also works as the plot for the site. Make sure to read the entire thing, or you may not understand what is happening in side plots.Centuries ago, before earth was created to inhabit pokémon and people alike, there were several pokémon gods. Among these gods, a pokémon known as Arceus was their ruler. For the years of peace throughout their godly kingdom, he decided to make a world that would be inhabited by other creatures and pokémon. He figured that this would make the universe a lot more diverse and occupied by things that gods couldn't fathom.
With his idea in mind, he created the world where people and pokémon live in currently, but it was not yet prepared. As a gift to all the gods that kept the peace throughout the kingdom, he would allow them to add one thing to this new world, so their mark would be forever written. At this time, there were fewer gods then there are now, making it not a very difficult task. For some gods it was very easy to give something to the new world, but for one specifically it was not.
When Arceus had announced the making of this new world, many were gleeful to hear, all except for Cresselia. She was glad to hear about the news, but was troubled by the fact that she had no idea what she could contribute to this new world. Many of her fellow gods told her that ideas could come from anywhere and that leaving her mark should be a simple thing. However, Cresselia didn't believe this to be true.
Unlike the other gods who wanted to be well-known for what they had done, Cresselia wanted to do something small. Something that would be admired, but not because she had made it, but because of it's beauty. It took her a long time until she finally thought of something she would like to contribute. With everything in mind she traveled down to the new world known as Earth. She flew across the wide expanse of water and found a place that was closed off from the rest of the world.
Then using the powers she had, she raised a small amount of land in the shape of a crescent. As she lowered herself closer to the landmass, she found herself in dismay at the lack of life on the land. Then more ideas popped into her head and she began creating wildlife in the area, and tried her hardest to give the area a variety of biomes for all pokémon. When she was pleased, she smiled upon her wonderful creation, for it was an island that she found perfect.
She had included it all, areas that were peaceful and friendly and locations that were dark and scary. However, she wanted an area that was meant for her to go and see her beautiful creation. Cresselia moved a little ways away from the coast and made herself a small island, with a different variety of plants that would only respond to moonlight. She thought that this was the perfect symbol to leave on the new world, since it was small and unnoticeable. Out of all the things she wanted, she wanted to go unnoticed for her creation, for it would create mystery.
When it was time to leave the new world, Cresselia was heart broken, since Arceus didn't want any gods visiting the world that often. Arceus had sensed this in her, and decided that perhaps there was another way for Cresselia to watch over her island. With his godly powers he made the moon inhabitable for the goddess, and told Cresselia that if she wanted to stay and watch her island, that she could remain there. Cresselia was pleased by this, and agreed to the decision.
Centuries past and when the pokémon gods could return to the new world, they made themselves known. When Cresselia was first seen, people and pokémon remembered the moon and from that day on, she was known as the guardian of the moon. As for her island, it became an area that only pokémon inhabited. In her honor, her island was named Lunar Island, and from then on Cresselia was pleased with what became of her mark on Earth.
