Pluto walked forward when Crayton told him that his eyes were closed now. Pluto placed the berries in front of him and sat back. "Okay," Pluto said. "Guess what is in front of you without looking." Pluto wondered if Crayton would be able to do it, or if he himself would be able to. Pluto doubted he'd be able to tell one berry from another, but considering how the pecha berry was shaped differently than other berries so maybe he would be able to. Pluto waited patiently for Crayton's reply.
Crayton heard a few more footsteps and the instructions he was given. Crayton just nodded and began to sniff around the object. The scent was familiar, and was something he knew very well. It reminded him of sweet things, and he realized just how familiar this object was. He smiled as he remember a few times when he had eaten the berry placed in front of him. "It's a pecha berry, Crayton answered, a smile still upon his face. He decided not to open his eyes, just in case he was wrong, because then he would maybe be able to guess again.
There was a pause and Pluto wondered breifly if he'd be able to figure it out, but soon enough Crayton stated that it was a Pecha berry. "Yeah!" Pluto exclaimed. He smiled. "You do have really good smell." Pluto thought about maybe going and finding a different berry, but he didn't want to go looking. So instead he swiped the berry from under Crayton's nose and started to munch on it. He settled into a laying down position on his stomach and waited to see if Crayton would say anything else.
Crayton was pleased to hear that he was correct. This meant that his senses were better then he thought. That was Crayton opened his eyes and watched as Pluto snatched up the berry. However, the mighyena couldn't object to that, since he wasn't the one who found the berries in the place. There was also the fact that he still had a couple of berries stored away in his bag. "Well, at least I know my smell is great," Crayton said, rather pleased with himself. He laid down on the ground, feeling the soft grass on his belly.
"So, I am guessing you like practicing your skills," Crayton said, only guessing of course.
Pluto nodded as he munched on the berry. It was a little ripe, but otherwise it was fine. Maybe he'd go to the farm once he got back to town and pick some different berries. Make a soup or something. Then Crayton said something about Pluto's skills. "Yeah. I think that the only way to make sure you still have them is to try them out as much as you can. Practice makes perfect, as they always say." Pluto told him between his bites. Almost directly after him say that Pluto sneezed and a bubble sprouted out again.
Crayton removed his bag once again, deciding that he could eat some of his own berries. Unfortunately this meant going searching for berries to sell later, making the merchant have more work to do. Crayton didn't mind though, he loved finding things and selling them, it felt like a reward when he made a successful sale. He then listened to Pluto's answer, and nodded in agreement. Practice is what he needed, but for now that could be ignore for a casual conversation. He searched the contents of his bag after the answer, and found an apple inside. The young mightyena began to munch on the apple.
Then one of the weird bubble sneezes happened once again. "Does that happen a lot?" Crayton asked. He wasn't sure if this was a normal thing amongst mudkips, but it was a strange thing for him.
Pluto watched Crayton go through his bag and wondered if he was a collector or something. There seemed to be a lot of stuff in there. While Pluto wondered the reason for Crayton to have that much stuff if he was just in the flatlands, Crayton pulled out an apple and began to eat it. After a few moments Crayton commented on his sneezing. Pluto just kind of shrugged. "Yeah. I always sneeze like that. It's been happening since I was a kid. Kind of a weird thing I know. I don't think I've ever seen anybody else do it, so I don't know how to explain it, but I sneeze a bunch and when I sneeze bubbles come out." Pluto took the final bite out of the berry.
It was peculiar to meet a mudkip would sneeze bubbles every time, but Crayton thought it was interesting. "That's pretty interesting," Crayton commented, a smile upon his face. His grin was toothy and revealed the small chip in his right canine. "So, what do you do around here?" Crayton asked, trying to get to know Pluto better. He took another bite of the red fruit before him, savoring its taste. He could still feel the sun warming his dark fur, and the breeze made sure nothing got too warm, making it rather perfect for Crayton.
The mudkip kind of shrugged from his spot lying on the ground. Sneezing bubbles all the time could get annoying for some, but he always thought it was pretty funny rather than cool or annoying. It's possible that one of his parents had some weird sneezing bubbles thing and that's why he did it, but he really didn't know why. Before Pluto could get too into the thought Crayton asked him what he did. "I'm a cook." Pluto stated. He was good at it too, but Pluto didn't say this. "I have a little stand in town, but it's nothing big. That's kind of what I want to have eventually, some big restaurant." Pluto thought about it for a second before smiling and looking at Crayton. "What about you? What do you do?"
Crayton was very intrigued by the thought of a sneaky cook. He wondered how good at cooking Pluto was, since he himself mostly ate raw berries. "That would probably be great for you, I am a bad cook," Crayton said. Then the question swung back at him about his work. Crayton smiled, he loved his work, and he certainly wouldn't mind talking about. "I am a merchant, I go into dungeons and sell the stuff I gather," Crayton explained. He remembered the days he would watch merchants talk with costumers and make trades, or just sell something. That was the main reason Crayton liked it, the chance to see new things and learn new facts.
Pluto smiled. Maybe later he'd make something for Crayon. The mightyena was nice enough after all. Pluto didn't mind making food for nice people. Maybe Crayton could even become his friend. Pluto then realized that Crayton had told him that he was a merchant. Pluto thought about it for a second. "Maybe one day we can go into a dungeon together." Pluto said with a smile. He loved exploring and the dungeons on the island were some of the best places to explore. "I'd like to keep any food objects we get, but you could keep all the others stuff." Pluto decided that if Crayton said yes then they could be friends, if not then they would probably still end up being friends. Crayton was nice after all.
Crayton liked the idea of going into a dungeon with another pokemon. This meant that their would be someone watching his back, and someone to help him fight the way through the dungeons. "That sounds like a good idea," Crayton said, approving the the idea. Even when Pluto mentioned the fact that he would like to keep the food objects it didn't bother him. It was just something he could work around, besides it was unlikely they would be working together in every dungeon. "That's fine, however if you have anything extra you can't use, I could probably sell it and we can split the money," Crayton suggested.
If Pluto couldn't use some berries for some reason, then perhaps it would be good to sell it and get some money in exchange. This was how Crayton thought, and it was all apart of what he did.
When Crayton agreed to Pluto's idea he laughed. At least now he would have somebody to go exploring with. It was never boring in the dungeons, but having somebody around to watch your back and talk with would be really fun. That's hoping that Crayton didn't hold him back, but the mightyenna looked more intimedating than a mudkip. "It's no problem. I only use a few of the items I bring out of dungeons anyways. You'd probably sell more than I could cook." Pluto laughed and hopped to his feet. "Let's battle, yeah? To see if we're both strong enough to be partners down in a dungeon. After all we both have to be in top shape, plus I haven't battled in a while. What do you say Crayton?" Pluto smiled and lowered himself closer to the ground, almost in a fighting stance, but more playful.
Crayton was glad to hear that his offer would happen. He knew that this could be a great chance for him, and would make his job just a little bit easier. The fact that he would get leftover berries from Pluto would make less waste, and a bit less work for him. "That would help us both then," Crayton mentioned, trying to make his offer sound a bit better. He then listened to Pluto's next offer, which was an offer to battle. Crayton smiled at the idea, it simply sounded like fun. "Okay, lets do it," Crayton answered. He slid his old bag off of his neck, putting it off to the side.
Crayton walked back a bit, creating room between him and Pluto. He then prepared himself a bit, and was soon ready for battle. "Tell me when your ready," Crayton said.
Pluto watched him take off his bag and then walk a little ways away before getting into a fighting stance. Pluto heard Crayton say to tell him when they were ready. Pluto was ready now so he waggled his fin. "I'm ready now." Pluto said before crawling forward, sticking close to the ground. He was building up a water gun that would hopefully knock a lunging Crayton backwards away from Pluto himself. He just had to get Crayton to lunge at him. Once that happened then Pluto had it down.
