[Gyasi]

The problems of not having a team were numerous. When wandering, Gyasi had only himself and the trees to talk to, and an equal amount of people he could consult jobs with. He had to carry everything himself. The bag, slung around his shoulder, contained, at minimum, the food he’d need, medical supplies, a map, a compass, books, writing utensils, extra writing utensils, and numerous orbs. That was excluding the specialty items he seemed to need more often than not, and the stuff he found along the way. The process of making it all fit was a task all it’s own. 

Perhaps worse of all, alone, certain dungeons were out of his reach. A rock/ground type like him couldn’t hope to enter Waterfall Caverns without someone to back him up. Alone, Jagged Castle remained out of his reach, however much he wanted to go. 

But standing here, in front of the bulletin board, looking for a job in which he didn’t have to pack two day’s of food for or risk an injury in the middle of nowhere, was pretty annoying as well. 

“Please help me find a precious lost necklace!” - the necklace was lost somewhere in the middle of Little Oak Forest. A single pokemon looking in the generously large alleged area could spend days searching. “Friend last seen deep in Gloomy Forest! Hasn’t come back!” - chances were too high his answer to this would be another lost pokemon notice, all for a measly 100 poke. 

Gyasi sighed. He really needed to get a team. If that was too much to ask, he just wanted someone to do something with today. He was bored, in need of a little more poke, and restless after four days of pouring over old legends. Several stories told of an adventurer running into a pokemon in need of help, or bumping into a fated companion, temporary or otherwise. What he wouldn’t give for something like that. Then again, those kinds of stories always lead to the hero pitted against great danger. 

...That would still be preferable to sitting here, staring at a board of jobs he wasn’t outfitted for. Sadly, Gyasi wasn’t a legend, so he’d have to make due with staring at passing pokemon, hoping another adventurer was in a similar predicament as him.

Chiki was sitting there, undetectable. Even though she was sitting next to Gyasi, observing the board, she remained speechless. She noticed that the pokemon was sighing and groaning. "What's wrong?" Chiki asked the pokemon, waiting for it's reply.

[Gyasi]

Gyasi nearly jumped. For the first time he noticed the Chikorita right beside him. Recently it seemed as if he hardly met anyone through any other means than them startling him. 

He took a breath and a moment to take in the pokemon. It’d been a while since he’d seen a Chikorita, even longer since he’d seen the line’s evolutions. This girl, by Gyasi’s supposedly trained eye, figured she had little experience. She was, however, grass type, and he had been eyeing a job in Waterfall Caverns. 

It was a simple one, labeled “Please help me find a flower!”. A young pansear had a liking of a roselia, and had heard a rare species of water lilies grew around the second and third floors. He wanted one to present as a gift, but like Gyasi, found that his typing made entering the dungeon ill advisable. It would be an easy task, one that could be accomplished today, and it was one Gyasi was considering doing anyway if no twist of fate made an appearance.  

He plucked the paper from the board and held it out to the Chikorita. “I want to go on this job, but my typing makes it hard to make it very far in Waterfall Caves. Don’t want to catch an unlucky break and have to post my own request for help, you know?”

Chiki looked over to the Larvitar next to her. He was eyeing a job in Waterfall Caves. He started talking to her. She listened to him. Her face lit up. "Sure!" Chiki said excitedly. "But, before we go, what's your name? Mine is Chiki!"

[Gyasi]

Gyasi smiled. Maybe it was just something about the species’ big eyes and cute giant leaf on their head, but the Chikorita’s joy and perceived innocence made him happy. Doing a simple job like this together would be fun. 

“Gyasi.” He answered. “Huh, we rhyme.” 

There was enough supplies in his bag for the two of them, so Gyasi skipped asking if she needed anything before they departed. From town, the way to the beach was clearly marked with well-walked roads, and signs and pokemon to ask directions from dotted the trail. His map would stay in his bag, though his journal would come out when they reached the caverns. 

Gyasi began to lead the way. “So, Chiki, have you ever been to Waterfall Caves?” He asked.

Chiki seemed to be listening, but she wasn't. She was actually staring at the bag Gyasi was carrying. She was sooo hungry... That bag made it worse. She snapped out of it long enough to hear the last sentence. 'So, Chiki, have you ever been to Waterfall caves?' was all she heard. "Umm, actually, what is it?" Chiki asked. She had stayed and trained with her parents soo much that she never went to the outside world as much. This was her first day alone, after all.

Sandy had been laying there, next to the bulletin board, sleeping. He had heard what the Chikorita and the larvitar had been saying. So... they're going to
Waterfall caves... interesting. Maybe I can get the flower while theyre doing the work.. he thought. He sneezed really loud. "Oh, no! My cover is blown!" Sandy muttered to himself, he stayed still, hoping they wouldn't notice.

Hope stumbled along the road, her bags hung over her shoulder, chest, and waist. She analyzed her map for the 1000th time. "So... if I keep on going, I should hit the town by...," she calculated, "9:56 a.m.!" She glanced at her watch. It was 9:56 a.m.! She looked around, she saw a few pokemon at what looked at the board thing. "Oh, hello," Hope said to the Larvitar, who seemed to know where he was. "Do you know where I can find a team? Is there a special place?" she asked. (^^' sorry!)

Chiki’s response confirmed what Gyasi had assumed. She was brand new at this. 

“It’s one of the local mystery dungeons.” he said, also preparing an answer to the question ‘what is a mystery dungeon?’. Everyone had to ask those questions at some point. 

The village was starting to wake up. It was that time of day when the not early-birds were pulling themselves out of bed, and those who got up early finally had someone to talk to. The markets were beginning to have more than just their clerks at the counter, adventurers were planning their days, and everyone else was living out theirs. A sneeze had him looking over his shoulder, where he found a burmy by the board. He wondered if the cold was starting to go around.  

One said adventurer, as Gyasi gauged by the numerous bags and a map, came up to their party of two. The audino was apparently also new to her job. 

“There isn’t really a place,” Gyasi answered, “but you can ask around if anyone’s interested. The inn and places to eat are the best places for that. You could also join a group for a single adventure, like us.”

"Oh, okay! But first, what's a mystery dungeon??" Chiki asked excitedly. She noticed a burmy. She poked the burmy, which rolled away into the bushes. She looked over to the Audino, which was talking to Gyasi. It was apparently new as well!

Hope pondered at what choices to pick. She decided she would be nice. She finally said, "Would you mind if I join this adventure??" she asked, packing the giant map into a tiny fold. "I could heal you guys in battle!" she said.

Dang it! Sandy's cover was blown! Now he couldn't follow them out in the open! He would still follow them, but hidden from sight. He rolled towards them, behind a bush.

[Gyasi]

Audinos were known for that, healing. Even an inexperienced one could prove their use. Besides, their job was an easy one. Gyasi could’ve accomplished it himself - a group of three, new or not, would have little problem.  

Gyasi nodded. “I’d love to have you along. Objections, Chiki?” 

Then there was the matter of the mystery dungeons. “The dungeons are places all sorts of weird stuff happens.” Gyasi explained. “Every time you go in the place’s layout has changed. You can find a lot of rare treasure in them, but they’re also full of mean pokemon. There are a few patterns, like the flowers we’re looking for.” Gyasi held out the job request to the Audino. “They tend to appear on the second or third floor in pools of water. Some dungeons also have static locations you can reach if you go in deep enough.” 

He looked between the two pokemon. “Anything else, or are we set? I’m Gyasi, by the way.”

Chiki was excited. They were finally gonna go! She pranced around saying, "No objections, lets goo!" She grinned wide. She ran ahead of them yelling, "YAY!!!"

Hope waddled along trying to keep up with the Chikorita. "C'mon! Let's go! Or we'll leave you behind!" Hope yelled at Gyasi, panting. As she was running she put all her bags into one huge back pack. She slung it onto her back. This was a start of a great adventure!
