Gyasi grinned and yelled, “I’m coming, I’m coming!”. These two brought back happy memories of when he first became an explorer.
An uneventful walk had them soon at the great waterfall, and Gyasi at the foot of the pounding water. From a ledge above water surged into a deep pool that steamed into the nearby ocean. It was funny to consider no one would know about the dungeon here if someone hadn’t had the idea to try and walk through the water.
“It’s through here!” He had to yell to be heard over the rushing water.
Thankfully there was a rock yet to be eroded close enough to the entrance that all that was needed was a good jump. Swimming was not something a 2’4” yet 170 pound ground-type pokemon wanted to do.
Really, really not wanting to miss, Gyasi gave himself a running start, and at the edge of the rock leaped. He hit the water, sliced through, and with a couple steps for balance, found himself soaked but on the other side. Shaking himself off and wiping water from his bag, he prepared for their trek and waited for the other two to follow. From his bag came his journal, a pencil, and an oran berry and apple each for his two fellows.
Chiki ran through the water, barely making it through. There was a few moments when her whole body was under water, but she made it to the other side, thankfully. She coughed and wheezed as she clambered on the other side. "I m-made it!" Chiki sputtered as she looked up to Gyasi. She fell on the ground, exhausted.
Hope checked through her bags. Swimming gear, check! She inhaled a lot of air, and dashed across. Her gigantic body slicing through the water. She ran on the other side. "Done!" Hope said as she bowed. She put all her stuff back in her giant backpack.
Gyasi let the two ready themselves. In his journal he made a note of the day and the dungeon, and began sketching a rough outline of what he could see of the dungeon’s lay out. The place was dark, light blocked by the waterfall, so it wasn’t much.
While Hope was putting her bag back in order, Gyasi pulled something else out. He lit a stick, cloth soaked in flammable liquid wrapped around the top, with a spark from two stones clicked together. Both his hands would be occupied, so he slid the torch through a loop attached to his bag for just such a purpose.
“For both of you.” He said, offering them both an oran berry and an apple. “Is there anything else you guys need?”
Hope had a pretty large bag, packed with enough stuff she had swimming gear on hand, so he doubted she needed much from him. The girl must be strong to carry all that.
Already scuttling could be heard from the darkness. Battle would be eminent once they progressed.
Hope grunted as the tiny Chikitora hopped into her backpack. She didn't mind. She left the pack open, so the Chikitora could breath. Hope heaved a large sigh and said, "Well," a long pause, "I guess it's just you and me now!" She waddled alongside Gyasi.
Time to start their mission. As he went, Gyasi drew. The layout was different than the last time, and the time before that. He hoped by making these maps he may be able to find a pattern in the floors, and with that a faster and safer way through.
What they were looking for was the entrance to the next floor. It would be a sudden drop, a hole to fall through, or a slow decline, or any other kind of way down. The same could be said for said for the way up; a hole in the ceiling next to a wall to climb, a ramp, or some other means. In dungeons infamous for weird floor entrances he brought a roll-up latter.
He didn’t have it this time, though. This dungeon was pretty straight-forward. What they did have, however, was a shellos staring them down. The pink blob used mud-slap. Blobs of mud flew through the air at the two of them.
“Watch out!” Gyasi called.
He stepped to the side, letting the mud sail past, but refrained from his usual counter. He’d let his companions have a go.
Hope looked up when Gyasi cried, 'Watch out!'. He looked at the measly shellos in surprise. Luckily, (like always X3) Hope was prepared. "Protect!" Hope called, spreading her arms out. The mud bounced off harmlessly. She waved a thumbs up to Gyasi. "Go get them!" Hope called out. She continued to use Protect.
Gyasi assumed Hope didn’t have much for attacking moves. He also assumed Chiki was a heavy sleeper as she’d yet to wake up. With a Rock Slide and a nearby rock to throw, Gyasi made short work of their opponent.
No one was hurt, so Gyasi scanned the room they’d entered for any items, but finding none, satisfied himself with a quick sketch. He waved for Hope to continue with him.
“Say something if you spot something interesting.” He said. The more eyes they had watching, the better off they’d be.
Hope started laughing hysterically. That Chikitora! She'd waken when all the action was over! She saw a chest in the corner! "Gyasi! Look over there!" Hope said, pointing at the chest. She waddled next to him.
Gyasi trotted over to where Hope had found a chest. Hidden back in a corner, tucked behind a stalagmite, it was well concealed. He was impressed she spotted it.
He marked the location on his map and again met the Audino’s gaze. “Good eye.” He said with a smile. "You found it, you should open it.”
Chiki decided to open it before Hope. She just had to see what was inside! She opened it, inside was a huge bottle of, green powder? Next to it was a key. "Oooh!" Chiki exclaimed.
Hope saw the Heal Powder. She lunged for it. She realized she looked ridiculous. "I-I need this," she sputtered. She pulled out her two gallons of Healing powder. But one was half full! She grabbed the new one. She dumped it in. She tucked them into her gigantic backpack. "Let's go," Hope sputtered, blushing.
