Gyasi chuckled at Hope’s reaction to the heal powder. Overall, not a bad chest for this early in the dungeon.
“Wonder what that key opens.” Gyasi mused. Once he’d found a key that opened a door in an entirely different dungeon. Another oddity of the places, he guessed.
Chest emptied, no opponents in sight, it was time to move on. He adjusted his slipping torch, and in the light, spied another large room between rock pillars. Luck seemed to be on their side today; upon investigation, he saw the entrance to the next floor. The ramp was against the wall, and the slow incline disappeared up into a hole in the ceiling.
“Over here!” He called, jotting again in his journal. “I found the stairs.” ((Maybe in the morning. Night!))
Chiki grabbed the key and stuffed it inside her tiny pouch that was painted green s noone could notice. She was startled that they had found the stairs so quickly. She bounded up them to only to scream in fear at the abundance Frillish and Jellicent...
Chiki and her abundance of energy ran past him. He had set his own casual pace up the ramp, but when the scream echoed off the cavern walls, he quickened to a sprint. The stairs had led them right into a nest of frillish and jellicent, dropping them in a room surrounded by an unhappy mob. Their luck with the chest seemed to have ended fast.
Gyasi acted fast. He grasped for the pouch of orbs hanging from his backpack and pulled out the first one he touched. Gyasi threw it to the ground, shattering the glass-like sphere and lighting up the room. The light seemed only to annoy their foes, who, with screeches reverberating the room, lunged at them.
Then, they seemed to freeze. Beginning with the ones closest, the enemy pokemon stopped moving. Some seemed to be about to release a move, while others hung mid air - and soon their little team of three was the only motion in the room.
“Foe-hold orb.” Gyasi gasped. “Don’t touch any of them,” he said gingerly, “or the effect will wear off.”
This is why he kept enemy stopping orbs so close on hand. He waved for Hope and Chiki to follow, and began to wearily walk across the room, taking extreme care.
Chiki walked slowly. She ducked under and around the frillish and jellicent. She giggled at one that was about release a move. She stuck her tongue out at it. She hiccuped. She bumped into a Jellicent. "Uh Oh," Chiki whispered as the Jellicent began to move. All of them were starting to move!
"Oh great," Hope said as she put her hand over her head. That chikorita! she thought. She ran full speed, (50 miles per hour?) past the jellicent and frillish. She grabbed Chiki and pushed her into her backpack. "Sorry," Hope whispered. She set her sights on Gyasi. She kicked and punched her way through a load of jellicent and frillish. She grabbed Gyasi. He really wasn't heavy for a Larvitar. Or she'd gotten stronger. She pushed him in her backpack. "Sorry guys," she whispered. She saw a hole in the ceiling and no passageways. She hopped up through the hole. She landed next to the hole. She unpacked her comrades. "Sorry guys, really!" as all she could say.
It’d been a while since the last time Gyasi’d been just scooped up. He couldn’t remember the last pokemon to pull it off - what he could remember was the last pokemon to try. The proud nidoking had bet him 100 poke he could lift the pokemon standing hardly over two feet. After realizing Gyasi weighed twenty pounds short of two hundred, he gave two more struggling attempts, and forked over the poke.
He’d been picked up before, but what he wasn’t expecting was for the audino to do it.
Hope had managed to find - and jump up to - the next floor. After she set everything down, Gyasi surveyed the area. They were in another large room with a single connecting hallway.
“Third floor.” Gyasi said. “We should keep our eyes out for pools of water and the lilies.”
He also had his eye out for any more enemies, and, not wanting to use another orb, prepared himself to use sandstorm if the need arose.
Chiki coughed. She blinked her eyes. Had, that really happened? She listened to Gyasi. She stared at the ceiling. So, they had to find the flower. She ran ahead of them. She saw a treasure chest behind a gigantic rock. "Guys!!!" Chiki screamed at her comrades. She pointed to the treasure chest.
Gyasi glanced at both the chest and the pond, but the pond took priority.
“There they are.” Gyasi said, trotting to the water’s side and leaving Chiki to the chest.
Small, delicate flowers floated on the water’s surface. They seemed to shine in the torchlight, reflecting soft shades of blue and white from their silky petals. The water was full of them, dancing on the small waves like boats. It was no wonder these were so popular as gifts.
Gyasi took a small wooden treasure box from his bag. About three inches wide and tall, it was meant for the small and fragile treasures. He picked five of the blooming flowers and set them gently in the protective box.
Returning to the group, he waited for his fellows to be ready.
Ignoring the flowers that they were looking for, Chiki clambered on the chest. She opened it. She saw a little shiny box. "Oooh.... " she began. She picked it up and showed it to Gyasi. "Gyasi, look!!" she whispered in awe.
Hope stared at the hole in the floor. "Well, I guess this is it," Hope said quietly. "Well, I guess I'll meet you at the bulletin board," she said quietly. She dissapeared through the hole in the floor.
“I’ve got an explorer badge.” He said, a little too late.
Chiki, in the big chest, had found a smaller box.
“Nice find.” He said. “There’s someone in town that opens boxes like that if you can’t. There might be something nice inside.”
Gyasi hadn’t taken any treasure on the trip. That was perfectly fine with him - he was fine on medicine, and while he always liked new orbs, they hadn’t found any. What he really wanted was his third of the coin.
“Let’s head out.” Gyasi said. He put his hand on Chiki’s shoulder and activated his badge, warping them out. The world broke into white, and when it reformed, they were again out in front of the waterfall. All that was left was to head to town, meet Hope and the pansear at the board, and collect their reward.
Chiki stared at the box. She was forgetting something. (Uh-hum... the key Chiki!!) She ran ahead of Gyasi. "Race ya!" she shouted, having a big head start.
“Wait up!” Gyasi shouted. He took a deep breath, and went running after the chikorita.
Chiki, of course, beat him back. He was huffing and puffing at the job board when the pansear arrived. Gyasi gave the pokemon two flowers and the job paper, which he returned with a “Thank you very much” and 1,500 poke.
Gyasi smiled at Hope and Chiki.
“Here’s your share.” He said, offering them both 500 poke and one of the three remaining lillies.
"Thanks, Chiki said in awe. She had finished her first job! She stared up at Gyasi. She blushed with embarassment. "W-well.. see you later!" she said. She turned and ran towards the sun.
